The First German-UAE Workshop on Energy and Water in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (EWGCC) will be held in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, on April 12-14, 2016. The Workshop is organized by Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe and American University of Ras Al Khaimah. Invited researchers from Germany and United Arab Emirates will present and discuss their ideas, theories, technologies, tools and applications. This workshop is supported by German Research Foundation (DFG). It is expected that this workshop will open the door for future cooperation between the German and United Arab Emirates partners. 

Workshop Themes 

  • The impact of the current and planned government policies and Legislations on the sustainability of the water/energy sectors in GCC countries.
  • Analysis of the current state of water and energy sectors in GCC countries and assessment of the links between the two sectors.
  • Potential of renewable energy in GCC countries.
  • Energy sources diversification.
  • Water & electricity supply-demand gap forecast.
  • Energy optimized desalination technology development.
  • Energy efficiency and climate issues.
